The Tomlinson Family

Indeed, nothing is more critically connected to happiness—both our own and that of our children—than how well we love and support one another within the family... M. Russell Ballard

Bad bad blogger...

I know, I know, I am a horrible blogger. No excuses, just lazy. But I'm allowed to be lazy every once in a while, right? Hey, I'm pregnant! Therefore, I can do whatever I cotton-pickin want to do! :) (I tell John that all the time-- he loves when I'm pregnant...) I actually have been out of town on vacation (Yeah!) and busy with some other stuff, so forgive me, if you would...

Here's a little update. For those shocked to hear that I was pregnant-- good! :) We were hoping to surprise people a little bit this time. John and I are elated to be having another little baby and feel blessed that it didn't take us so long to get pregnant this time. I am 19 weeks and will have my ultrasound the day after Valentine's day. We are going to find out the sex because we know that we will need to start crashing thrift stores and garage sales for girls stuff if we're having a little girl. Otherwise she's going to be stuck in baseball jersies and dinosaur jammies (not that that would be so bad, right?) We'll see if we tell everyone else what we're having... Hehehe, oh the power! Thanks for the well wishes. I've been feeling great, and have just started feeling the baby move. I love being pregnant.

John and I have had a great Christmas holiday! We spent Christmas here in Boise (of course, since John doesn't get holidays off work). But we wanted to see the Tomlinsons also, so we had a belated Christmas in So Cal. It was great (except for the fact that we were sick the whole time... argh!)! We flew out on a Thursday, hung out with family, played at the park, went to Sea World, and went for nice walks in the California sunshine. Actually, it was a little cold, but nothing like Idaho! It was great. We stayed for a week and then had to come home. Daniel had a great time playing with/getting to know his cousins, and we were bummed to leave. I wish that we lived closer.
Here are some pics for your viewing pleasure. It's going to be a little scrambled, but that's okay.

First, the Tomlinson grandkids minus 5 (so sad that they couldn't be there!) :(

Next, the Tomlinson siblings. We're missing Bob from Oregon (wish that your family could have been there!) but we got six out of seven-- not bad!

Then a family picture of our little family...

Then a close up of Danny boy. He's growing up so fast! (Don't ask me what this face is...)

Santa Fright!

Our ward Christmas party had a special little visitor. Good 'ole St. Nick decided to grace us with his presence and bring the good little girls and boys a bag of candy. Well, as good parents, we were anxious for Daniel to be recognized for his good behavior by Santa. We waited our turn (with Daniel checking every single move that Santa made) and got our camera ready. We finally got to the front of the line and we plopped Danny boy on Santa's lap. It took Daniel less than a second to realize that Santa was a very scary furball and he wanted nothing to do with him. We grabbed a couple of quick pictures and you can see for yourselves that we might have created a Santa-phobia in our little boy.

Merry Christmas!

Bubba in a basket!

I can catch Daniel in the darnedest of positions... For some crazy reason, he thinks that he's really petite and can fit in anything. Such is not usually the case, but he got lucky this time. He loves his lego basket.

My little reader...

I have always told John that I hope that Daniel doesn't have his disinterest in books. So far, so good! Daniel loves reading time (although in the pictures it looks like he's bored stiff). He definitely has his favorites and likes them to be read over and over and over and over... :) I wouldn't have it any other way.

Some cousin shots...

We had Adam/Dana and family over for dinner a couple weeks back and here were some cute shots. I love the one with Emma and Daniel swinging in the chair. And of course the one of Daniel trying to give Emma a kiss... What fun!

Happy Turkey Day!

I'm a wee bit behind on updating my little bloggie, but I have had good reason. We've had family in town (thanks, Bri Bri for coming to visit!), a trip to Soda for Turkey day x 2, work, work, work, and Daniel, Daniel, Daniel. Overall, the past couple of weeks have been fabulous! Who doesn't love overeating??

Here are a couple of pictures from our Turkey bowl (Brian demanded that we have one or else he wouldn't come visit and John was happy to oblige). Daniel loved the idea, of course, because it involved balls! It was a little confusing for him, however, since he's usually obsessed with basketball. He kept wanting to throw the football in the basket at the park. Hey, whatever works, right? :)

We love the autumn!

Autumn is my favorite season-- without a doubt! We have a huge tree in our front yard which sheds all of her leaves within a three week span of time. She started in the middle of October (I'm not sure why I think she's a she-- it's a pretty tree, so it must be feminine) and now there are only a handful of leaves left.

We had fun raking as a family this week. (Well, mostly John and Daniel-- I was too busy photographing it all...) Daniel was a really big helper, sort of... He mostly just messed up all of Daddy's piles, but it's the thought that counts, right? :)

TRICK OR TREAT!

Daniel survived his first trick-or-treating experience. Mom and Dad were very pleased with his haul. We went with Dana and the kids since John wasn't able to take a break from work. We had fun going with Ben (Spider Man), Emma (a Princess), and Spencer (a moo-cow). Daniel was a lion, although we never did get him to wear his hat... I just threw him in his umbrella stroller and off we went!

Halfway through, Daniel started getting a little cranky. I decided to give him a tootsie pop to play with to help him pass the time. Well, about three houses later, I notice that he is sucking on it. (Note: I didn't take the wrapper off.) No problem, it was keeping him happy. About three more houses later and I check on him again... He is a drooling mess of sugar and slobber and he is NOT letting go of the sucker. I force it out of his mouth only to discover that he managed to consume nearly the whole sucker while leaving the wrapper in place! What a talent! I'm afraid that Daniel is going to have Daddy's sweet tooth.

Ewww! Pumpkin guts are yucky!

We have discovered that Daniel hates getting himself dirty, just like Daddy! I was so excited to be carving a pumpkin this year, imagining Daniel swimming in the goo and making a mess... Well, he had other ideas! We cut the top off and started cleaning out the guts and Daniel was repulsed! We tried to force some of the goo on him, and he just gave us the "nasty" face (we recognize it readily because we see it every meal... argh!) and moved away. So, John and I were left to clean it and do all of the work, but Daniel loved hugging and kissing the pumpkin. What a sweet boy! Enjoy the pics!
